The honey-nougat carré and the almond blond ones disappeared first at our dinner party — the praline shell is thin enough that it snaps, not shatters. The alcohol truffles are genuinely boozy too, so keep them away from the kids. Thirty-six pieces sounds like a lot until you're down to four.

I wasn't sure about the alcohol-filled ones, but the truffles with a bit of liqueur inside turned out to be my favorites. Chocolate is genuinely smooth and not overly sweet, and the honey-nougat carré disappeared first.

The box arrived beautifully wrapped and the mix of boozy truffles with the lighter honey-nougat carrés is perfect for sharing after dinner. I’ve already worked my way through the Mandel Blond ones — the texture is spot on, creamy but not too rich.
